…«Glory of Russia» and «Slavonic Power» contain scream vocals, tough guitar riffs and rhythm-section, the variety of synthesizer timbres along with clean back-vocals. Very energetic action tracks whith melodic and rhythm patterns’ changes won’t let you get bored. While listening once more, one can notice arranged details, overlooked earlier – definitely, this CD won’t collect dust, it’s worth relistening!
… Instrumental sketch «Silence of Eternity» creates an impression of little ice pieces ringing in a mountain lake; similar impression appears while listening to Amorphis – «The Way». Little pieces of ice are ringing in crystal clear northern lake in the mountains, while fierce wind sweeps past above the water and snow-covered peaks…It seems that transient three minutes are only the exposition of the first concept and , unexpectedly, the second is on its way… The arrangement of this composition is as transparent as mountain air and doesn’t lose this quality despite saturation. The guitars are in the full accord with sound, imagery and concept. It seems as if their sound had been wafted from different mountain valleys behind the blizzard. In the end, reservedly roaring bass and harp modulations supplement each other very well…

…Catchy melodies, appropriate usage of female vocal, interesting lyrics - that’s all about «WinterMoon Symphony». Although it’s based on black metal, the sound justifies «symphonic» definition. Well, the main thing here is vigorous hit «Glory of Rus»: catchy melody and a combination of both brute and nearly opera vocals. Despite of some simplicity of the lyrics, the eyes of fans blaze while listening to it…

…The sense of Welicoruss’ music is simple and understandable. Its basis is symphonic metal (from black to power) interlaced with beautiful «Slavonic» melodies. Probably, the admirers of serious pagan music won’t find in “Welicoruss” neither traditionally Russian song motives nor the usage of folk instruments and will take that as a drawback of the band. As for me, I believe the light accessible portrayal of Russian melody together with powerful metal-ground is the main competitive advantage of Welicoruss and it favours popularization of Russian traditions and metal subculture in general.
…The quality of the album is excellent, the sound is dense, each instrument is listenable, the music and vocals are well balanced… Separately, I’d like to mark the perfect work of the band’s designer Juri Kozikov and stylist Anastesia Kriger. The booklet is a feast for the eyes indeed – all these florid frosty figures with successful collages and musicians’ images are just brilliant!
